Patrick Joseph

About: Patrick Joseph

You may have heard his music on such shows as Gossip Girl, The Office, Chicago Fire, MTV's Friendzone, or Happy Endings, to name a few. You might have caught him at festivals around North America such as SXSW in Austin, NXNE in Toronto, or CMJ in New York. Or maybe you're just discovering his music for the first time. Regardless of how you've gotten to know him, you've already discovered quickly why he's had a steady rise to success over the past few years from the Los Angeles music scene to the international stage. With two releases and a few years of touring under his belt, singer/songwriter Patrick Joseph is no stranger to the craft, and 2014 shows no signs of slowing down for the young songsmith who hails from Los Angeles, CA.

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph forges a mixture of pretty & gritty vocals, lush production and timeless songwriting, creating a presence that NOW Magazine describes as "A Gifted LA adult-contemporarist with a world-weary Waitsian voice and a Spoon meets Beatles soft-rock vibe."

Joseph is largely independent, producing, recording, mixing, and until recently, performing all of his recordings on his own. A resident of the neighborhood of Silverlake in Los Angeles, Joseph has established himself as one of the rising stars in the buzzing songwriting scene of Southern California.

His latest release, Foot In The Door EP, is just a teaser in promotion of his highly anticipated sophomore full-length release Moon King, due out later this year. Foot In The Door EP is available online exclusively at patrickjoseph.com.

Moon King was released in October 2014.

Gwamba

About: Gwamba

Defying description, but easily accessible. Incredibly deep, but dangerously shallow. In many publications and reviews the word "unique" appears, but is not necessarily their definition of unique.

Lyrical stories infused with thick dark E.V.P's trapped within a music that is heavy, but not in the conventional sense of the word. Possessed mainstay members MUSHAGA, and GWAMBA are sometimes visited by wood toting ghosts, but more times than not a programmable humanoid that go's by the name "machine".

When probed as to what category they fall into their response is sharp, and direct, "DON'T LABEL US, WERE NOT DONE YET"! Gwamba and Mushaga feel much more akin to the savageries and modern day hobo proclivity of the road as apposed to the safe confines of a normal stay at home robot glass tit lifestyle. Using both outdated infinite trigabyte computer systems, and modern day magnetic tape on head analog sound capturing techniques, their available to the public craft-work catalog is vast, yet compatible to any in the moment ear, or searching for yesteryear soul. Staying true to the teachings of their larger than life, but incredibly humble mentors,"BRACK", and "EMERIL" united as one shooting the fig to anyone or anything that may unsuccessfully attempt road blocking there destiny, Gwamba: The band is forever on the verge of a bro-down with every, and all life forms, for music truly is, their medication! ~ Dell Tearcut, New York Tribune

Leigh Nash

About: Leigh Nash

Leigh Nash is perhaps best known as the pixie-like singer with the heavenly voice from Sixpence None the Richer, a CCM group that enjoyed considerable fame in 1999 with the single "Kiss Me." She had started the band at age 14 with schoolmate Matt Slocum.

Nearly half her life later, at age 27, Sixpence None the Richer split, albeit on good terms. Before the band called it quits, Nash had often considered working solo, if and when she would be band-less. Though the end of Sixpence left her a little distraught, Nash realized it was time to move on, and she and her husband moved from Nashville to Los Angeles.

Soon after, Nash gave birth to a son. She decided to return to her roots a little, which consisted of Christian and country music, though she remained in touch with her pop influences. Nash's original musical inspiration came from classic country heroines Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Tanya Tucker whose songs she used to learn on guitar long before the Sixpence days. With motherhood as an inspiration, she recorded Blue on Blue and moved back to Nashville to join Movement Nashville, a recently formed collective of musicians geared toward expelling the myth that Nashville's music scene consists only of country and Christian music. Blue on Blue was released in August of 2006. ~ Megan Frye, All Music Guide

On November 15th 2011, Leigh Nash released Hymns & Sacred Songs, marking her rediscovery of the sacred songs that stirred her imagination long before she became a recording star.

Nash grew up singing in church, but it wasn’t what you might think. She wasn’t the golden-haired angel singing the solo in the Christmas pageant. She was the girl in the pew just beginning to discover her own voice.

That shy young girl from New Braunfels, Texas, would grow up to become the unforgettable Grammy-nominated voice behind such pop hits as “Kiss Me,” “There She Goes” and “Breathe Your Name” as lead vocalist for Sixpence None the Richer.

Nash’s professional successes notwithstanding, life has offered up its share of personal challenges in recent years: the joyful arrival of her son Henry, a painful divorce, and the death of her father. And in the midst of all of it, Leigh has discovered the reality of God’s grace and comfort firsthand. “Before all this, I always felt a little self-conscious singing in church, a little awkward trying to sing the melodies. I think a big part of me didn’t feel worthy to be a conduit for such sacred hymns and songs, but now, because of what I have been through, I see it differently. To discover that songs written hundreds of years ago are still so inspiring and relevant to my life, that grace is most real when you need it most, I honestly felt every word on this record.”

Amy McCann

About: Amy McCann

Amy McCann is a musician with a broad range of musical interests from classical to folk to rock. She is a multi-instrumentalist singer-  songwriter who draws inspiration from nature. Amy may be found  walking pretty much any dirt path in Canada and anyone who knows  her from her Youtube channel (amccann7)  will see this in many of  her videos.

Amy was trained as a classical violinist as a child, coming from a very musical family. As a teenager, she began to love bands like Led Zeppelin and switched to acoustic guitar and mandolin. She learned finger-picking blues from famous Toronto Folkie Mose Scarlet before playing in Northern California for several years. Amy then returned to classical taking a guitar performance degree at McGill University in Montreal, while raising 3 children. Amy now runs a small but devoted music studio and performs occasionally as a classical & folk-rock soloist, and with her folk ensemble Hazy Maidens with vocalist Julie McCann.

Although she collaborates frequently with wonderful musicians all over the  planet, she is also known to record entire songs herself because she  sometimes feels she just has to get the song out. This means all the  instruments (guitar, violin, piano, drums) and vocals. Arguably, her  greatest musical quality is her ability to emotionally ignite anything  she plays.

Finally, Amy is an accomplished artist that specializes in watercolor/oils. Again, her themes tend to be nature-based and organic. Her art, which displays a love of nature’s mysteries and magic, has even attracted the attention of scientists who have commissioned her for specific paintings. She also studied stained-glass making while living in Montreal and designs her own patterns.

Sofa City Sweetheart

About: Sofa City Sweetheart

Sofa City Sweetheart is the pop music project of multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter J. Lopez. Sounds as if The Kinks and Elliott Smith had a baby.

“J. Lopez is a songwriter, performer, producer, and sound engineer and his talents are collectively known as Sofa City Sweetheart. Successfully tapping into that 60’s California pop sound he creates fetching melodies in his songs that retain a tongue-in-cheek edge. Of course, Lopez needed some help to fill out his debut EP. The operatic background vocals, violin, cello, and nicely compressed drums are provided by a company of musicians who make Sofa City Sweetheart sound like a band rather than a one-man effort.”

Cormac O Caoimh

About: Cormac O'Caoimh

What do…

A honeyed whiskey drink, a fine cognac on a cold winter’s eve, a warm woolly jumper in muted earthy colours, a colour .. a rich mahogany warm and beautiful and a water colour painting all have in common??? They have all been used in reviews to describe Cormac O'Caoimh’s previous album “A New Season for love”

Cormac O Caoimh has just released his third solo cd “The Moon Loses Its Memory”. It has already been featured and received excellent reviews in The Sunday Times, The Daily Star, Hot Press, The Ticket and many many more. He has done live sessions and interviews on RTE Radio 1, Newstalk, KCLR to name but a few and 12 of the 14 songs of the cd have already received airplay on national and local stations. A full gig of his - live from HMV (who are also stocking the cd in their stores) went out live on the RTE website. And on the success of this new cd  he has received endorsement deals with Godin Guitars, Schertler acoustic amps and Logjam stompers.

The finished product was also a very unique collaboration between the audio and the visual, between pictures and words, between stories and dreams...between the songwriter (Cormac O Caoimh) and between the photographer (William Crowley).

William Crowley chose 14 of his wonderful photographs that personally related to each song.

Cormac O Caoimh is a singer-songwriter and classical guitarist from Cork, Ireland. His intimate vocals and exquisite guitar playing is attracting the attention of musicians and music lovers alike. He can count Tom Robinson (BBC) , Ron Sexsmith, Fiachna Ó Braonáin (Hothouse Flowers), The 4 of US, Mark Geary and Pat Coldrick among a long list of musicians who admire his music and he is being championed by a whole host of music bloggers, dj's and music journalists.

Jeff Paisley

About: Jeff Paisley

Jeff Paisley fell in love with music when he was a young boy and joined choir in the 3rd grade. By the time he was 16, and with the influences of Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Bryan Adams, and Def Leppard, he started down a path of teaching himself how to play keyboards and writing music.

Over the years Jeff had been a part of many touring choirs and bands which fueled the fires of love he had for music. But when Jeff got married, music took a back seat to family. He passed on an offer from a subsidiary of a major label when he was 22 but kept writing music through the years.

When he learned of the true mercy and love of his Savior Jesus Christ and His second coming Jeff’s life and music changed. He went on to Pastor for a few years… doing prophecy seminars and music around the US, Ukraine, and Russia as well as founding and hosting a radio program called The Awesome Light.

During those years Jeff had been told by his friends and family that he should send his music to Christian record companies, but he was focused on being a Pastor.

In 2008, he finally gave in and Jeff signed with Tate Music Group. During production of the album, Jeff had massive side effects from a medication that left him sick for nearly two years. Tate Music Group waited on him to heal and finish the tracks which he ended up producing and recording mostly by himself.

God has comforted, protected, and guided Jeff through the years. Jeff believes that God is a God of second chances… Jeff’s mission in life, and in his music, is to proclaim the true love, mercy, and soon second coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In 2010 Jeff decided to leave Pastoral ministry and pursue a full time music ministry.
"Forever Believe" was released in March of 2011. With little to no marketing Jeff left Tate Music Group late in 2011 and is currently looking to sign with another label and re-release "Forever Believe."

Portico Quartet

About: Portico Quartet

Portico Quartet are a band from London. Their sound is made partially distinctive by the use of the Hang, a 21st-century percussion instrument. The group is composed of Jack Wyllie (soprano and tenor saxophone), Duncan Bellamy (drums), Milo Fitzpatrick (double bass), and Keir Vine (Hang and percussion). Nick Mulvey, former Hang player and percussionist, left in early 2011 to pursue his career as singer-songwriter. He is replaced by Keir Vine.

After nearly two years of playing mainly small gigs and busking regularly outside the National Theatre in London, they signed to Babel Label in 2007. Their first album, Knee-deep in the North Sea was released on 5 November 2007.

They are now signed to Real World Records. The name portico comes from when one of their gigs was rained off in Italy, and they ended up playing under a portico.

Their third, most recent, eponymously titled album was released on January 30, 2012.

Real World Records

Portico Quartet still sound like nothing you ever heard before. The Mercury nominated East London based outfit's unique brand of hypnotic minimalism has expanded to embrace new sonic territories. Drawing on the inspiration of electronica, ambient, classical and dance music as they take their strange, beautiful, cinematic, future music to exciting new vistas where the inspiration of Burial, Mount Kimbie and Flying Lotus rubs shoulders with the textures of Arve Henriksen and Bon Iver and echoes of Steve Reich and Max Richter. But all underpinned by a shared joy in collective music making as the band push their inimitable music into the future.

Tired Pony

About: Tired Pony

Tired Pony is a music supergroup consisting of Gary Lightbody, Richard Colburn, Iain Archer, Jacknife Lee, Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and Troy Stewart. Lightbody formed the group out of his appreciation for country music, and has during the early planning phase described the group's music once as "country-tinged" but explained later that in the end the album's development turned out much more to Americana than country during the whole creative process in the studio. The group visited Portland, Oregon in January 2010 to record this debut album, which was produced by member Lee; The Place We Ran From was released on 12 July 2010. Tired Pony began recording their second album "The Ghost of the Mountain" on February 19th 2013, and will be released on August 19, 2013

History:

Tired Pony was formed by Gary Lightbody (of Snow Patrol), who had a "long-term ambition" of making a country album. He revealed the project's existence in May 2009. In the interview, he expressed his love for country music, which he said he had loved for a long time: "I always thought I had a country album in me and it turns out I did." The rest of Snow Patrol expressed excitement for their band-mate, "delighted that [Lightbody was] getting to exercise all his crazy ideas." In October 2009, Lightbody in his blog on Snow Patrol's website revealed the members of the group to be Richard Colburn (of Belle & Sebastian), Iain Archer, singer Miriam Kaufmann (Archer's wife), and Jacknife Lee. He talked about two more members whom he was very excited about, but didn't name them. He also stated that the album won't be country as was being reported, but would be "country-tinged". In January 2010, Hot Press reported Peter Buck (of R.E.M.) to be a member of the group. Lightbody described Buck as one of his "all-time heroes" and admired his talent for playing a variety of instruments. Lightbody looks at the project as something he has "wanted to get out of [his] system", and said that "[he doesn't] know whether people will dig it or not.". About the album he furthermore said he wanted to write a twisted love-letter to the States.

Tired Pony played their first ever live show at London's Forum venue in Kentish Town on July 14, 2010 and were joined on stage by 2009 Mercury Music Prize nominee Lisa Hannigan who stepped in for Zooey Deschanel on song "Get On The Road". Editors singer Tom Smith also joined the group on stage.

On September 30, 2010, Tired Pony appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, performing "Dead American Writers" from their album, The Place We Ran From. "Get on the road" was also featured on Showtime drama "Shameless" at the end of "Just Like the Pilgrims Intended" episode.
